At home II

It's been a long time since I have showed you any of the changes I've been making here.  These are a couple of shots of my guest room, as it is today.  It's been a long process - as money, time and health have allowed.  There is still a lot to do, but these things can't be hurried.

At Home I

Just thought I'd share a couple of pictures I took this lunchtime of my bedroom.  It was a year ago at least that I posted some images of the changes I had begun to make to my house.  Here, in what is a long ongoing process, is what one corner of my bedroom currently looks like.  I'm planning to change the chair cover.

yet more re-decorating.....

     The saga drags on.  I take full responsibility.  I should have booked the painter and decorator much earlier.  The first floor is still topsy-turvy.  Though I have redecorated the bathroom, well almost.  The delay however has allowed me to take my time in choosing the colour for the walls in my bedroom, and to have a major crisis of confidence.  The visit to the bf's gave me an opportunity to get some tester pots at 'Cutlack's' in Ely - they stock Zoffany, Sanderson, Little Green, Fired Earth and Farrow and Ball.  And since I've been back I've been a busy boy.

     Currently my bedroom is painted in Sanderson Spectrum - Bronze Olive Lt (walls) and Cameo White (everything else).  I don't dislike the colour at all and I will keep the Cameo White (in fact I have extended its use to the whole house), however I feel the darkness of the walls contributes to the room, which faces west, getting so damn hot in summer.  A lighter colour is needed.  As of today the clear favourite is 'Scarab' by Fired Earth, with 'Mouse's Back', by Farrow and Ball a second.  I would have preferred to stay with Sanderson, to be consistent, but their browns contain too much green.

Things have ground to a halt somewhat, but here are a couple of pics of the room in question last week after the bed was removed.

More redecorating

Just some pics to show the progress or lack thereof.  I tied up a little first - the floor was littered with strips and bits of wallpaper.  In some places I have stripped the paper back to the plaster.  In two other places I have been trying paint samples.

Redecorating

I've been seized with desire to redecorate...perhaps it's a feeling of release after looking after my aunt, and still visiting my father...anyway I've decided to attack what was my parents' bedroom.  It has got quite shabby.  Out  will go the old furniture, paint work and carpet.  In will come a new bed, new paintwork and seagrass flooring.  I will keep the Ercol chair and the slightly kitsch chandelier.  The built-in wardrobes, installed for my parents when we moved in, circa 1970, will have to remain unfortunately.

The seagrass is also moving into my bedroom, and the 'study'.  I'll keep you posted.
