Here is my latest pen and ink drawing approx 17x8cms. Shape is based on a Neolithic axe-head. Seems to be really unpopular on instagram!

Own work: Apple
Apple anyone? I drew this a couple of days ago and thought I'd share this with you all. Pencil crayon on 220 gsm smooth surface cartridge paper.

Own work: 'Llech Gronw'
My latest pen and ink drawing, based on the slaying of Gronw Pibyr in 'Math fab Mathonwy' the fourth of the Four Branches of the Mabinogi, the 'Pedair Cainc y Mabinogi'. At the end of the tale the usurping Gronw is confronted by the hero Lleu Llaw Gyffes hot for revenge. Although accepting Lleu's challenge Gronw, in an act both duplicitous and cowardly, hides behind a standing stone, but undeterred Lleu throws his spear at stone and coward piercing both.

Back, finally, to the life drawing studio. A number of short poses and then one hour long one. All made using pencil-crayon and displayed in order of production.

Own work: from my sketch book
Thought I'd briefly share this drawing I did the other week of one of the trees at the back of our house - inspired by the tree studies of John Constable and Samuel Palmer. I find the form and shape of trees deeply fascinating particularly in winter where they are empty of leaves; I also like the sound they make in the wind. Like the sea. However I've always held back from drawing one feeling my skills weren't up to snuff and I have to admit it was a tricky thing, loosing my way a few times, but over all I would count it as a success.

Own work: Life Drawing LVI
After a long gap (over a year) I have finally returned to the life-drawing studio. Here are my efforts - not too bad considering. It was a two hour session with a number of poses of increasing duration as the morning went on. Apologies for the photography. I find the photography of life drawing difficult.

Own work: Daily Drawing
I'm endeavouring to draw every day. How long I will keep this up is open to question. That said I rather pleased with Saturday's drawing. Feeling inspired by David Hockney it was to the kitchen and my pencil crayons.

Own work: Aberglasney
I have to admit I'm rather pleased with this sketch. Not that I had thought it would turn out stylistically quite as it has. I simply didn't sit down and consciously conceive of making a drawing in the Edwardian manner. It just happened and I'm glad it did.

Own work: Life Drawing LV
This time last week I was busy getting ready to go on pilgrimage to Walsingham. Now, surrounded by the confusion of selling my house and preparing to move to Wales, it seems all together a different life. I did, however, take time on Thursday to head back to the life drawing studio. A welcome distraction it proved. Anyhow this is what I managed to come up with in the way of drawing. Not too bad under the circumstances (I am a proper fully fledged 'stress-monkey' and am finding the whole process somewhat difficult so if the posts get even more sparse and erratic, forgive me).

Own work: Life drawing LIV
The start of the new school year and back, therefore, to the life drawing studio. The usual two poses of an hour each. First drawing using an 'F' pencil and the second using a 'B'

Own work: Life Drawing
Back to the Life Drawing room last week and mixed results, in fact the first is so bad I'm ashamed to post here. The second was a definite improvement, and that I'm happier to post so here it is. A hour pose, pencil crayon - which it seems is my favourite medium du jour - on cartridge paper.

Own work: Life Drawing LIII
Back to the life drawing studio after the half-term break. I thought I'd try something new by bringing my mixed media technique to bear, but first some pen and ink. Not that successful as I had forgotten to bring a pencil with me, so no underdrawing.

Own work: Life drawing XXXVIII
I've a backlog of life drawings to post. Here are the first. A couple of watercolours with pencil shading and some wax resist. Perhaps not one of my better days in the life room. But like the curate's eg they are good in parts.
